Apple finally throws in the towel on Aperture

Apple has announced that it is stopping all development on Aperture. Users will be able to migrate their libraries to Apple’s new Photos offering when it is released, but clearly this marks the end of Apple trying to compete directly with Photoshop, Lightroom, Capture One, and DxO Optics Pro for mindshare with high-end photographers. This shouldn’t surprise anyone, but does make it more time critical for loyal users to shop for an alternate.
