Go back in time at Somewhere in Time in the Texas Hill Country

My daughter Annie and I just enjoyed a truly wonderful weekend at the Somewhere in Time Guest House which is part of the unique Block Creek Natural Area in the Texas Hill Country...

Most of our readers will know that we've fallen in love with the Texas Hill Country as a bird photo destination and that we can't wait to get back there next April to lead our Texas Hill Country Bird Photo Safari and Workshop. But what you may not know is that the Hill Country is a great destination for sight-seeing or that romantic getaway you've been waiting for. With ponds, streams and rolling hills reminiscent of our Coastal Range here in California there is plenty of great hiking on the ranch and nearby parks. And the LBJ National Park provides a touch of historical education while Enchanted Rock is a unique piece of geography. If you go between May and October you can also see millions of bats emerge at sunset from the nearby Old Tunnel Wildlife Management Area.
And then of course there is the birding and bird photography. Of course for the ultimate bird photo learning experience we'd love to have you join us on our safari and workshop next April, your hosts Larry and Sharron Jay can provide you with personalized, excellent birding and photo opportunities at any time you stay there.
The Somewhere In Time guest house couldn't be any cuter (I say that based on the expert opinion of our 15-year old daughter). With a combination of 19th century rustic decor and all modern conveniences (including an ultra-comfortable bed with a great view of the landscape) it is an oasis away from the rest of the world. We both wish we could have stayed longer. If you go please do let them know we sent you and give them our best.
