Only two months after launch, there is a crazy deal on the Nikon D600 from B&H. For the same (slightly discounted) $2K price of the camera body only, you can now get both the Nikon D600 camera body and the very good (and compact) Nikon 24-85mm AF-S VR lens. This is the same combo that I paid $600 more for just recently. I’d look back with some regret at that, except that I loved using it on our just-finished African photo safari, where it logged nearly 10K frames.

I took this portrait of our guide to Nelson Mandela’s house in Soweto using the D600 and the 24-85. The combination does an excellent job,and has kept me from needing to lug around the much heavier Nikon 24-70 f/2.8 lens or even the 24-120mm f/4 lens for most uses. I’m really tempted to take advantage of the deal myself, except I really don’t need another identical lens. Maybe if someone wants a new in box 24-85 we can split the deal?
