EnerDel Lands Hybrid Humvee Deal with U.S. Army

In what can already be considered a very fortuitous year for the lithium-ion Toshiba pa3399u-2bas laptop battery manufacturer EnerDel, Inc; the Ener1
subsidiary has just announced a deal with none Inspiron 6000 laptop battery than the United
States Army. The new project centers on the development of a
next-generation battery system for the Army’s hybrid version of the
iconic High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle, otherwise known as
the legendary Humvee.
EnerDel, which was a recipient of nearly $120 million in grants
under President Obama’s American Recovery and Reinvestment Act,
received a $1.29 million contract to design and build high-performance
lithium-ion battery systems for two different applications that
include electronics and INSPIRON 6400 laptop
Battery
systems design.

is an opportunity to showcase the true capabilities of the
EnerDel technology in conditions that demand the highest levels of
safety, performance and reliability,” said Rick Stanley, EnerDel
President. “In keeping with a long tradition, we also expect that
innovations perfected here will have important benefits for the
commercial markets.”
As part of the project, EnerDel will spend the next 18 months
collaborating with the U.S. Army Tank Automotive Research, Development
and Engineering Center (TARDEC) to produce four custom-built power
systems that will be subjected to extreme performance simulations.
Being that the lithium-ion Dell 75UYF laptop battery will be used to power one of the
vehicles most commonly used by the U.S. Army, EnerDel’s ability and
expertise in the acer

systems and design will no doubt be put to the
ultimate test.
